Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) is organized by seven IITs (Indian Institue of Technology) at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and IISc, Bangalore to examine the understanding and knowledge of Engineering/Technology/Architecture graduates and various post graduate levels in Science.
GATE Score can be used for admission to M.E., M.Tech and direct PhD in various IITs, NITs and IISc. GATE sciore is also used for recruitment by various public and private sector firms.
Besides admission to higher education course and employment, getting a GATE score is an advantage to the CV of an individual.
The pattern of GATE examination has become more friendly as 15% is General Aptitude which is common to all papers. So its not limited only to the study related knowledge but also IQ.
